Hastings Pirate Day 2017

Once again Hastings is set to become the swashbuckling capital of the world this summer as preparations are well under way for the Pirate Day festivities.   This year the event will be on Sunday July 16

Join thousands of 'pirates' to turn Hastings, current holders of the 'Guinness World Record for the Largest Gathering of Pirates', into the pirate capital of the world once more.

What's happening:

There are plans to design the largest flag especially for Hastings Pirate Day.  Everyone can bring their own flag, either made or purchased and tailored with their name, organisation, school and so on to be attached to the outside of the main flag so it can be built on all four sides.  Pirates that have contributed to the community flag can then carry it filmed from the air at Pelham beach in what will be an amazing sight.  Timings, etc. are still to be planned.

Watch The Tigers Freefall Parachute Display Team do a spectacular skydive at 1pm at Hastings Pier.  Ticketholders for the VIP deck on the Pier will get a chance to meet the skydivers and Captain Jack Sparrow, as well as enjoy a glass of prosecco, canapes and the best view!  Tickets cost £20 per adult and £7 per child and are limited to 100 people.  (Booking fee is chargeable).  Book now!

Also at Hastings Pier - venture inside Circo Rum Ba Ba’s 50ft inflatable whale – The Pirate’s Misadventure storytelling show, featuring a shipwrecked pirate and a real live mermaid with a haunting siren’s song and intriguing secret.  Tickets cost £5 (plus booking fee) per person; limited capacity.

Plus family fun with Emporium Parties, Punch & Judy shows, a drop-in Pirate Circus Skills Workshop, live music, tap dancing, drumming and a Stunt Action Swashbuckling show from the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow!

Scurry around the pier to find hidden smugglers in the Pirate Family Trail – only 50p per child, including a gold coin reward.

Events will take place the length and breadth of ‘Buccaneers’ Mile’, from Hastings Old Town to St Leonards Warrior Square.

Mermaid Cove in the Old Town.

A whole mix of musical performances, ranging from tunes from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ by a full symphony orchestra dressed as pirates; songs from ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ by Battle Light Opera; folk music from Dutch band Pyrates; headliner of US pirate events, Scott Jeffers, from Phoenix Arizona; Hastings’ own, Captain Blair’s Pirate Party.

Symphony orchestra is to perform music from Pirates of the Caribbean all dressed as Pirates and Scott Jeffers will come over from Phoenix Arizona, a brilliant singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who performs at festivals all over the world and headlines the Arizona Pirate Festival.

Expect non-stop swashbuckling action!
