Christmas in Rye brings Toyland

During Saturday 9 December

Performance Stage

The main stage will be in the Strand car park along with a selection of food and beverage vendors.  There will be two busking areas where other performers and musicians will be filling the streets with energy and sound.

High Street Races

Races start at 2pm.  Teams call compete in these light-hearted events with the pudding race and santa relay and tug o' war.

Puppetry Theatre

The Lempen Puppet Theatre Company will bring 'Cardboard Carnival'.  The real magic of puppetry supported by a fantastic musical score and a horde of cleverly designed puppets.  £5 a ticket - Rye Community Centre.

Christmas Market

11am-5pm at the Cinque Ports Street car park

You will find such an inspiring collection of original products at this Christmas market. Bag yourself an original gift, some yummy treats for the Christmas table or sample some of the fine food and drink on offer.

For the children:

Father Christmas Grotto - in the Cinque Ports Inn rear garden - 11.30am-4.30pm - prebook - £3 a visit.

Visit Mother Christmas at the Old Borough Arms - 12noon-6pm - £3 a visit plus a cookie!

Reindeer; Punch & Judy in the Rye Castle Museum, East Street; Carousel in the Cattle Market car park; Stories about Toys with Gilly in the Library, High Street; Storytelling with Ed Boxall in the Library & Rye Art Gallery, High Street; Pupperty Theatre in the Community Centre, Conduit Hill.

Christmas Procession


A Christmas Procession of the Rye community, culture and life, departs at 4.30pm from Rye Station and finishes at The Strand at 5.15pm approx.   Mayor's speech at The George at 5.30pm

Community Carol Concert

Join choirs, groups and local singer songwriter Tommy Ludford in this sing-along carol concert.  Free entry, St Mary's Church, Church Square, 6pm-7pm

Jack in the Beanstalk

From 9 December until 27 December.  The cast is made of local experienced professional actors in the leading roles, supported by local youth talent.  A homegrown pantomime for all the family.  Tickets from eventbrite
