If you're anything like us at the present moment and fortunate enough to have your own garden, we expect you are spending more time in it. We don’t think our garden has ever looked so well tended and we have certainly tackled areas that we have in the past overlooked. Like many of you, we have noticed the bird song and the nature around us, which is giving us joy and comfort right now amongst all the worry.

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve has just celebrated its 50th anniversary, and what better time to look back over its eventful history of habitat restoration, wildlife protection and extinction reversal. Since 1970, staff and volunteers have recorded the wildlife and managed the special habitats of saltmarsh, saline lagoon, vegetated shingle, wet grassland and reedbed.
