By Road

The main road serving 1066 Country from the London area is the A21 which is linked to the M25 around London.  The coastal road is the A259 which serves Pevensey, Bexhill, Hastings and Rye and links 1066 Country with the ferry ports and Channel Tunnel.

By Sea

The closest ferry port is at Newhaven with sailings to and from the French port of Dieppe.  The other ports offering easy access to 1066 Country from mainland Europe are at Folkstone, Dover and Ramsgate. These are served by the ports of Boulogne, Calais, Dunkirk and Ostend.

By Rail (including Eurostar - Channel Tunnel)

From Europe travel to London or Ashford from Paris, Brussels, or Lille by train.  Paris to Ashford is just two hours.  Frequent direct trains run from Ashford to Rye, Hastings and Bexhill.  1066 Country is also well served by trains from London's Charing Cross and Victoria stations.  The coastway service runs the length of the south coast.

Gatwick Airport handles direct flights from all parts of the world (including from other parts of Britain).  Driving time from Gatwick to 1066 Country is just over an hour in normal traffic conditions.  Gatwick Airport is on the Victoria line, offering a direct rail link with Bexhill and Hastings. Lydd Airport also handles incoming charter flights and is only a few miles from Rye in the eastern part of 1066 Country.
