About

In the heart of the High Weald, down a narrow lane just off the historic high street, the Rose and Crown has been welcoming customers to Burwash for five hundred years.  At one time a haunt of smugglers, its low beams and roaring fire make for a cosy and convivial atmosphere when the weather is cold, while in summertime two pretty gardens overflow with flowers, laughter and sunshine.

All our food is home-cooked, with an ever-changing seasonal menu and we serve Harvey's real ale alongside carefully selected wines, many of which can be bought by the glass, the carafe or the bottle. We are open all the year round, for snacks, light lunches, a celebration dinner or for our Sunday lunch - whatever your fancy.

And if you feel reluctant to leave, you can always book a stay in one of our comfortable en-suite rooms. There are many lovely walks and places of interest nearby i.e. Bateman’s, so why not extend your stay in our comfortable B&B and visit a few of them.

Been twice in recent weeks and both times truly delighted. Amazing food and fantastic service. Just love this pub. I’ve had both Seabass and Seabream with samphire - oh my days! Sensational. Read full review
