Little Marshfoot

Tucked away in the grounds of a former farmhouse overlooking the Pevensey Levels, Little Marshfoot was designed to promote environmental building techniques and standards whilst at the same time achieving the highest levels of comfort and quality.
Fully centrally heated, the light and airy open-plan sitting/dining room/kitchen is fully equipped with fridge freezer, dishwasher, washer/tumble drier, microwave, gas hob and electric fan oven. Sleeping four people, there are two bedrooms, each with its own en-suite shower, TV, radio/alarm and hairdryer. A CD player and DVD player are also available. A cot, child’s bed, baby bath and high chair can be provided on request. There is free WIFI connection to the internet for those who need to keep in touch with their e-mails. A Welcome Pack comprising tea, coffee, biscuits and milk awaits guests on their arrival. The building is strictly non-smoking.
The well-stocked garden and lawns for guests’ use offer an attractive and restful view from the wide windowed building at all times of the year. We aim to use environmentally friendly gardening techniques wherever possible, in order to attract the widest range of wildlife over the year. Don’t be surprised to see fox cubs playing in the garden in May and June, a wide variety of common garden birds including green and great spotted Woodpeckers, and a visiting Sparrow hawk.
Further afield a walk across the Pevensey Levels will offer Reed Warblers, Herons, Skylarks, Mute Swans, Lapwings, Goldfinches, Marsh Harriers, Little Egrets, winter thrushes (fieldfare and redwing), flocks of Starlings, and Buzzards. We also attract a range of butterflies including the brimstone, orange tip, red admiral, painted lady, peacock and tortoiseshell. The wildlife pond generates damsel and dragonflies in the later summer.
There is a gas barbecue available for guests’ use in the summer, and we supply a wide variety of garden games including croquet, chess, giant snakes and ladders, giant pick-up sticks, and hi-tower, and a gas barbecue is available for use in the summer.
With views out over the fields the south facing ‘loggia’ captures the morning sun and is a delightful location for eating ‘al fresco’ at any time of the day whilst enjoying the mature garden or watching a game of croquet or just the visiting birds and other wildlife.
The market town of Hailsham which is well supplied with all amenities is only a mile away. Of particular interest is the restored Art Deco cinema which shows all the latest films, and the Leisure Centre with a swimming pool and flume.
Only seven miles from the sea and the South Downs National Park, this secluded and peaceful venue is well located for touring Sussex, Kent and the Home Counties. Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes, Tunbridge Wells, Battle, Rye and Brighton are all towns which merit a visit, and there is an hourly train service to London from the local station.
