Dahlia Days at Pashley Manor Gardens

About

In September the gardens at Pashley are a riot of colour with a dazzling display of dahlias complemented by the second flowering of roses, late flowering perennials and other annuals.

Sixty-two varieties of dahlias are planted throughout the garden; pinks in the Rose Garden and along the Terrace beds, sunny yellows in the Golden Beds, whites in the Elizabethan Garden, purples in the Pool Garden and hot reds and oranges, interspersed with darker burgundys in in the magnificent Herbaceous Borders, which are at their best at this time of year.  As well as sunflowers in reds, chocolate brown and, of course, gorgeous yellows there are elegant exotic cannas and the spiky seed heads and glossy foliage of ricinus in the Herbaceous Borders, sweetly scented heliotropes, their blossoms following the path of the sun through the day in the Rose Walk and Terrace borders, cosmos, gazanias, lavateras and more … the garden is abundant this month!

Through September our Head Gardener will be giving tours of the garden twice a week with a focus on dahlias and dahlia care (dates and times TBA), and we will have order forms for Bloms Bulbs Dahlias available for anyone who would like to use the garden displays as an inspiration for planning their own gardens (order with Bloms in September for delivery and payment in the spring).

The café, with terrace, serves locally sourced and homemade cakes, scones and light lunches; the shop has gorgeous gifts, souvenirs and plants from the garden, and there are exhibitions of garden sculpture and floral art.  Whether you want to learn more about dahlias or just enjoy the eye-catching displays of these vivid, multi-hued blooms within the summer planting displays do come and spend a day in the gardens during this month of fantastic late summer colour.
