St Andrew’s Church’s majestic ‘Fairlight Tower’ is conveniently located by the picturesque Hastings Country Park next to the coach and car-park - the perfect place to visit with its Victorian Gothick architecture and spectacular 360degree views. Very popular with tourists and locals is the ‘Tower Tour’ where they can climb up the 112 stone steps to the dramatic castellated rooftop, offering spectacular views at one of the highest points in Sussex. The White Cliffs of Dover, Dungeness Power Station, Beachy Head and France, and Fairlight Hall, Guestling and the Sussex Downs can all be seen on a clear day. The Tour is open on Saturday/Sunday/Bank holidays (2-5pm) from May to September and between 2-3pm, visitors can ring the joyous bells by playing the very old ‘carillon’ level mechanism (nb children must be 8+ years to take Tour.) Private tours can also be arranged for 10+ people.
STEP BACK IN TIME: Visitors can also enjoy the lovely Church with its stunning stained glass windows, dramatic stone arches, beautiful hand-painted organ pipes, historic War Memorial plaques and fine paintings. The Churchyard houses old hand-crafted gravestones of many famous people.
