Bewl Water

About

Bewl Water is the largest reservoir in the South East of England and spans 800 acres of beautiful meadows, ancient woodlands, and fresh open water.

Situated in the village of Lamberhurst on the border of Kent and Sussex, it's only an hour away from London and a short 35-minute drive from the stunning Kent and Sussex coast.

This place is dog-friendly and open throughout the year, offering incredible landscapes, native wildlife, and exciting woodland adventures just waiting to be explored.

With 12 and a half miles of scenic paths for walking, cycling, running, or horse riding, and hundreds of protected species to discover, the reservoir provides a haven of natural beauty and character.

Whether you fancy a leisurely paddleboarding session on the water or prefer spotting wildlife on land, Bewl Water promises peace, tranquillity, and healthy outdoor fun.

Activities

Whether you seek thrilling adventures or serene relaxation, there's something for everyone to enjoy at Bewl Water.

On the reservoir

Take to the waters and unleash your inner explorer with sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding, canoeing, rowing, or kayaking! After a challenge? Open water swimming is also on offer, as well as a giant ‘Total Wipeout’ style inflatable obstacle course named Aqua Park. For something a little more relaxed, you can hire a pedalo or fishing boat!

On land

Prefer to stay on land? Lace up your walking boots or hire a bike  - there are 12 and a half miles to explore! Wander through the semi-ancient woodlands, meander along the riverbank, or trek up hills whilst encountering native wildlife and protected species along the way.

If you’re with the little ones, head over to the adventure pirate ship, indoor soft play, or Ranger Bear’s woodland trail. It changes seasonally and maps are free from The Waterfront Café. For an action-packed adventure, grab your camo and step into battle for a game of laser tag!

Food and Drink

Enjoy delightful refreshments at the dog friendly Waterfront Cafe or treat yourself to a visit to the ice cream parlour.

With views of the stunning reservoir, The Waterfront Cafe offers a perfect spot to relax and refuel. Savour a variety of freshly prepared treats like delicious pastries, light lunches, and plenty of snacks, alongside coffee, hot chocolate, and cold drinks.

For those with a sweet tooth, head to the ice cream parlour where they also serve milkshakes, slushies, and dog-friendly treats!

Camping

Turn any visit into a mini getaway and stay for longer at Bewl Water. Whether you pitch up and get back to basics or hire one of the luxurious Mongolian yurts, camping at Bewl Water offers a remarkable outdoor experience.

The idyllic destination provides the perfect retreat for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike, with 80 spacious pitches nestled amongst lush greenery and two beautifully refurbished yurts.

Both are located just steps away from facilities including washrooms, hot showers, and freshwater, whilst food and drink can be enjoyed from The Waterfront Café and ice cream parlour.

Bewl Water’s campsite is open from 1st May – 30th September each year.
