In this hour-long tasting, you’ll sample four of our rarest wines – for example,  our single vineyard sparkling, our sought-after still Pinot Noir or our rich and complex late-disgorged wines.

Winemaker's Still Wines Masterclass and Lunch

Our still wines are the epitome of Gusbourne craftsmanship and care. We produce these wines only in the best vintages using the highest quality fruit. 

This masterclass, hosted by Winemaker Tom Jones, is a fascinating way to explore our range of still wines – from their production to how they taste in the glass. The event begins with a guided tour of our winery, where Tom will share his insights into how we make our still wines.

We’ll then sit down for a detailed masterclass, tasting current releases and cellar-aged library vintages of our Pinot Noir, Chardonnay Guinevere and Chardonnay 809 wines. You’ll also have the chance to try a Gusbourne debut: our Chardonnay Wild Ferment 2021. As the winemaker behind this cuvée, Tom will be able to share his first-hand experiences of crafting the wine.

After the tutored tasting, you’ll enjoy a delicious three-course menu, showcasing fantastic local ingredients and paired with Gusbourne wines.

This event begins at 12 noon with a drink to welcome you to The Nest. We expect the day to be concluded by 3.30pm and recommend that taxi arrangements are made in advance. English Wine Week - five-course dinner with the Wine Garden of England

On Friday 25th June, in celebration of English Wine Week, Gusbourne is hosting an epic five-course dinner event paired with wines from six of Kent's finest wine estates. Savour some of the finest local wines, alongside some of the finest local food at this unique event.

 

We will begin at 6.30pm with a sparkling wine reception and mini-tour of the vineyards. You will then be seated in Gusbourne's garden room, overlooking the Boot Hill vineyard, for a five-course tasting menu with each course paired with a different wine from one of the estates. Our team will visit each table to introduce each course and the wine we have paired with it, with the opportunity for you to ask questions and explore the wines in more detail. We expect the event to finish at 10.00pm.

Wine Blending Masterclass & Lunch

Join Laura Rhys, Master Sommelier and Gusbourne Global Ambassador, to discover the art of blending and for the first time, gain a behind the scenes look at the processes that go into creating our award-winning wines. You will even have the opportunity to put together your very own blend.

Laura achieved Master Sommelier status from the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2010, joining only a handful in the world, of which only 34 are women. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge having worked as a sommelier in some of the finest establishments in the UK and through over 10 years of judging national and international wine competitions, as well as her six years with Gusbourne. Laura works closely with Head Winemaker Charlie Holland in crafting the blends for our wines each year.

At this event, you'll be based in our cosy tasting room that overlooks the vines as Laura guides you through how the different varieties and clones that we grow throughout our vineyards can produce an array of different blending components from each year. Hone in your senses with a breakdown of the different flavours and characteristics that you will find in our finished wines before piecing them back together through blending a selection of our 2021 base wines to create your very own unique and final blend. Compare your creation with a preview of our very own 2021 final blend which will be exclusively prepared for you by Laura and Charlie. Your day will conclude with lunch served with Gusbourne wine.

Please note that tasting base wines in their infancy offers a different tasting experience to the final product and so these wines will showcase much higher acidity than from the final wine, which will undergo a second fermentation and lees ageing over the course of a few years. This experience is intended for educational purposes and is well suited to guests who wish to learn the art of blending and winemaking in a beautiful setting. Spaces are limited to a total of 12 guests to allow for an inclusive experience.

On arrival at 11am, you will be welcomed by Laura with an aperitif before being seated for your masterclass and lunch. We expect the day to be concluded by 2:30pm. We recommend making any taxi arrangements in advance.

Harvest Discovery Tour

Harvest is one of the most exciting times to visit. This is a Discovery Tour with a twist - we seek out opportunities for you to step behind the scenes and see what happens at Gusbourne during the grape harvest. 

During your tour, you may be able to taste our fully ripened grapes straight from the vine before the bunches are picked and sent to the winery for pressing. Our pickers may be in action where you can observe them working their way down the rows of vines, picking each and every bunch of grapes by hand. Then, as you head back to The Nest for your lunch and tasting, you may see the grapes coming into the winery fresh from the vineyards and even taste some of the juice straight from the press. This is the juice that will become Gusbourne’s 2022 vintage.

The format of the tour is based on our regular Discovery Tour, in which you'll arrive for a hosted tour of the vineyards and winery, followed by a tutored tasting in the Nest, including some special wines that don’t feature in our standard hosted tour. We will then serve a lunch composed of small seasonal plates, designed to complement the wines.

Please note, harvest takes place in accordance with the weather and the vineyard manager’s skilled assessment of the optimum time to pick the grapes. We cannot guarantee you will be able to experience all of these harvest activities during your visit due to the variability of nature and its effect on processes in the vineyard and winery.

Late Disgorged Winemaker's Lunch

Some of our most prestigious wines are those that have developed on their lees inside the bottle over an extended period of time. Spending up to and in excess of around 8 years before disgorgement, these wines are incredibly rare and through this slow and gentle process, acquire a uniquely rich and complex range of flavours. We meticulously taste each wine through this development to ensure that it is released at the perfect moment.

In celebration of this, we invite you to join Winemaker Alastair Benham for a special winery tasting and four-course dining experience at The Nest. Throughout the day you will enjoy a selection of wines, each with different qualities from extended lees aging. This will include the exclusive addition of our new-release Brut Reserve 2015 Late Disgorged. These fantastic wines will be tasted amongst tank and barrel within our winery, and set within a carefully paired tasting menu showcasing some of the finest of local ingredients.

Guests will be welcomed at 12pm with a reception drink in the Nest before commencing the winery tasting experience, being seated afterwards for our lunch in our tasting rooms. We expect the day to be concluded by 4pm and recommend that taxi arrangements are made in advance. Magnum Masterclass and Lunch with Laura Rhys MS

Magnums instantly convey generosity. A greater sense of ceremony and celebration too. But magnums find favour among winemakers for more practical reasons that ultimately benefit the way the wines taste. Join Master Sommelier Laura Rhys for an exciting opportunity to explore the way in which magnums influence the flavour and structure of our wines as well as this formats ability to age our wines at a slower pace.

Your masterclass will be set within our cosy Hide tasting room where you will be guided through a range of our large format wines, including our newly released vintages of Gusbourne Rosé 2018 and Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2015 in magnum. Following this, you will be treated to a seasonal three-course lunch, prepared by our Head Chef Anthony Coppard and each course will be paired perfectly with our wines, hand selected by Laura.

Winemaker's Library Lunch with Chief Winemaker Charlie Holland

This special library lunch, hosted by Chief Winemaker Charlie Holland, is new to our events calendar this year. Since our first vintage in 2006, we have laid down a small proportion of our wines to gently age over time with the view to studying their ageing potential. In the optimum conditions of our cellars, our wines have developed rich and complex characteristics. For some older vintages, we think there's even more potential for ageing too, as Charlie will discuss. 

Settle into our tasting room, The Hide, as Charlie takes you on a journey through the vintages with his specially selected wines. You'll hear his recollections about the vintage conditions, along with his considered view on how the wines have developed. The chosen bottles will be expertly partnered with a seasonal three-course lunch, created by Head Chef Anthony Coppard. This is a real glimpse into the winemaking past, and future potential, of Gusbourne. An unmissable event for those who enjoy exploring the ageing potential of English fine wine.

Across the Easter weekend, we are offering a casual but informative one-hour walkaround tasting in our winery. You'll have the chance to sample wines from across our portfolio, including award-winning sparkling and still wines, plus a special bottle from our Limited Edition series. As you make your way around the tasting, The Nest team will be on hand to delve into the details of each wine with you. A selection of local cheeses will be available for you to enjoy.

Once you've enjoyed the tasting, you can redeem the cost of your ticket against our Portfolio Tasting six-bottle mixed case, featuring a selection of the wines shown on the day. If you'd like to purchase additional wines by the glass or bottle, these will also be available from The Nest.

For the first time, we are delighted to offer our popular and specially created picnics with our newly released still English Rosé 2022. Set under canvas in our beautiful Boot Hill Garden, you will enjoy views across our vines with the sounds and sights of spring all around. Inside your picnic you’ll find the best of Kent and Sussex produce, such as artisan cheese and charcuterie, local fruit and homemade bread, accompanied by a bottle of our English Rosé 2022. This special event is only available across Friday 28th April - Monday 1st May and in celebration of the release of our still rosé and the bank holiday weekend.

Coronation Sparkling Afternoon Tea for Two

Join us in the vineyard for a sparkling Afternoon Tea to celebrate His Majesty The King’s Coronation.

On arrival, you'll be guided to your canvas-covered table in our outdoor dining area at the top of Boot Hill vineyard. We'll begin by opening your lightly chilled bottle of award-winning Blanc de Blancs, which you can enjoy throughout the afternoon. We'll then serve you a traditional selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, scones and pastries, all chosen to match the wine.

This special Gusbourne event takes place each day over the Coronation Weekend, from Saturday 6th to Monday 8th May 2023. Guests are invited to arrive between 12 noon and 1pm. The Coronation Afternoon Tea is designed for two people.

Magnum Tasting Flights

Experience the ceremony and celebration of tasting wine from magnum. Exclusively for His Majesty the King's coronation, we are offering this special one-hour experience over the course of three days. You will enjoy a tasting flight of four wines from our limited-edition series of magnum bottles. Your host will talk you through each wine and while allowing you the time to enjoy the surroundings of our cellar door. A plate of delicious local cheeses will accompany your tasting.

English Rosé Bar

Come and join us in the vineyards this May Bank Holiday weekend to celebrate the launch of our new English Rosé at our Boot Hill Garden Bar. 

Refreshing and delicious, this pale-pink Rosé is laden with vibrant notes of red summer fruits. And, with views over the Kent countryside in springtime, there's no better place to enjoy a glass or two than at our Boot Hill Garden Bar.

Throughout the long weekend, our team from The Nest will be on hand to offer our hospitality, with wines available to purchase by the glass or bottle and wine service to your table. We will also be offering complimentary canapés with each purchase, created by our Head Chef Anthony Coppard.

Single Vineyard Collection Masterclass and Lunch with Laura Rhys MS

Our limited-edition single vineyard wines are an expression of time and place, of vintage and vineyard. Each of these special wines is crafted with precision, to express the soil, microclimate and fruit of a particular site.

We're excited to release the most recent Singe Vineyard vintages. Laura Rhys, Master Sommelier and Global Brand Ambassador, will introduce these new wines in a dedicated masterclass. 

The event begins with a hosted tour of our vineyards, where you will taste the wines amongst the vines. We'll then return to The Hide tasting room. Here, Laura will share her expertise as we taste current and library vintages of our Single Vineyard collection. These wines will be paired with a delicious three-course lunch, created by Head Chef Anthony Coppard.

The event begins at 11am and we expect the day to be concluded by 3pm. We recommend that you make any taxi arrangements in advance. Following the event, you will have the opportunity to purchase many of the wines tasted. You’re also welcome to stay and enjoy more wine by the bottle or glass at your table after your experience. Our estate will close at 5pm.

Whether it's celebrating the start of English Wine Week, or treating your dad this Father's Day, join us as we welcome The Saffa Bru for a weekend of full-flavoured food amongst the vines.

The Saffa Bru's South African-inspired barbecue menu has a keen focus on quality ingredients. From flame-seared steak to their speciality curry, these robust dishes are even more delicious alongside our English sparkling. You'll be welcomed with a glass of our classic Brut Reserve and then seated in our beautiful Boot Hill Garden. Then, sit back as Saffa fire up the grill and prepare the dish of your choice. The menu includes:

Join us for an al fresco Mexican street food experience with Punk Tacos. With a menu that combines vibrant, bold flavours from Mexico alongside fresh, seasonal, local ingredients, this is street food at its most exciting. Plus, these mouthwatering dishes are sensational alongside our English sparkling. 

We'll welcome you to Boot Hill vineyard with a glass of our classic Brut Reserve. Once you're seated at your table, you can select your Punk Taco main from the following menu:

-Ancho Chicken - Ancho grilled chicken topped with pink onions, red cabbage slaw, toasted pumpkin seed and chimichurri.

-Just Like Honey Habanero  Pulled pork shoulder infused in orange, honey and habanero, topped with pink onions, Punk mango habanero sauce and lime-spiked sour cream

-Sweet Potato (v) - Sweet potato with feta cheese, spring onions, toasted pumpkin seeds and salsa macha

-Mushroom Mosh (vg) - Chipotle portobello mushroom with guacamole, pineapple and tomato salsa and lime spiked vegan yoghurt

Gusbourne Estate Tour x The Gallivant

This 24th March, join us for a special edition of our Estate Tour as we collaborate with local boutique hotel The Gallivant. Your day will begin with welcome drinks at The Nest, before you head out into the vineyards to discover what makes our corner of Kent so special for growing grapes. 

Following the tour, you'll enjoy a tutored tasting of classic and limited-edition wines. Then, we'll hand over to the culinary delights of The Gallivant's Nico Fitzgerald for specially created canapes and a Gallivant-inspired three-course menu. Nico, whose CV features Heston Blumenthal’s Michelin-starred The Hind’s Head, takes his culinary inspiration from a childhood spent growing up in Gibraltar. This delicious lunch will be carefully matched with Gusbourne wines.

Harvest Estate Tour

Harvest is one of the most exciting times to visit. This is an Estate Tour with a twist - we seek out opportunities for you to step behind the scenes and see what happens at Gusbourne during the grape harvest. 

During your tour, you may be able to taste our fully ripened grapes straight from the vine before the bunches are picked and sent to the winery for pressing. Then, as you head back to The Nest for your lunch and tasting, you may see the grapes coming into the winery fresh from the vineyards and even taste some of the juice straight from the press. This is the juice that will become Gusbourne’s 2024 vintage.
