1066 Wine & Food Festival will take place in May. Good wine and food with a special focus on the quality local produce that 1066 Country has to offer and celebrating the social and cultural aspects of good dining and drinking.
The opening ceremony is in the historic Battle Abbey, courtesy of English Heritage. Guest of Honour, Jilly Golden, will naturally be toasting in English traditional method sparkling wine, acknowledging the 1066 area as being at the heart of English wine production. A limited number of tickets are available to the public, so early booking through the website is recommended.
Food and drink of all kinds will be on offer during a one day Fair at the Grade One Listed De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill on Sunday 22nd May, which will provide a showcase for local wines and produce to taste and buy. Admission is free.
Throughout the fortnight of the Festival individual restaurants, wine merchants, vineyards, food producers and resellers will all be making a special effort to provide quality and variety – many with themed events, tastings and promotions. To close there will be a finale celebration on Bank Holiday Sunday 29 May at St Mary in the Castle, with live music and a superb pop up wine bar.
Tickets for this and the opening event at Battle Abbey are available on the website or from Hastings Tourist Information Centre.
